Blue!: As an artist, I had fun experimenting with colors and the idea of borders in this painting. Beginning with a shade of bronze, I worked my way up to the cerulean sea tipped with cobalt shadows within the waves. Finally, I topped the painting with a streak of sky that ran from a light Carolina blue down the spectrum to a darker shade. The perspective taken in this painting is from a lense that is partway underwater, and partway gazing at the sea and sky from the eye-level of the ocean. Smoothing the borders of colors in between under the sea, the ocean and the sky suggests the elimination of boundaries within nature. The smooth bronze shade of the underwater view can also be interpreted as the sandy shore of a coastline. Blue! is a painting that challenges the concept of boundaries and borders within nature.
