Barn at Dusk:  I enjoyed creating the portrait of Barn at Dusk because I was able to play with the distinctive assortment of shapes and shades within nature. The horizon begins with a pink hue and sleek, blue-purple clouds that seem to cut the sky with sharp edges. As the sky extends upwards, the clouds puff and roll into cumulous form. The pink sky deepens into a pastel, then Carolina, then cerulean shade of blue. Off-center, a lone but well-kept wooden barn stands alone, sunlight absorbed by the honey-colored wood. The golden field is bright with the day’s remaining sunlight, cut into two distinct halves by a deep green slice of fertile grass.
