Amber Marshland: The sun, barely beginning to set, casts a tinted glow over the marshlands that leaves the grass emanating a warm, amber hue. Streams flow through the amber turf in a myriad of pastel pinks and blues, reflecting the sky during the first stages of setting sun. When painting Amber Marshland, I left the sun to the right of the canvas so that I could focus on the lighting effects of the landscape. The radiance of the amber complexion of the marsh grass and the trees beyond hints at the impending season of fall, while the spectrum of pastels speaks to the vitality of nature through all seasons.
