Peaceful Moonlight: There are few landscapes that allow more meditative reflection than a calm, moonlit night. As I searched for the right location to paint the lowcountry at night, my breath was taken away by the “Peaceful Moonlight” scenery. A wide gulf of water flows out as it tapers into the marsh grass. The reflection of the moonlight on the water made the scene brighter, allowing me to still depict the green and blue colors of the earth and sky in the painting. Grey wisps of clouds blurred the light of the moon, but remained opaque enough for the light to illuminate the lower sky, earth and water below. The serene atmosphere of this painting will fill viewers with a sense of awe, contemplation, and inner calm.
