Storm Coming: Although it was a risk to my canvas and art supplies, I could not let the opportunity for this painting pass me by. With the incoming storm clouds smothering the bright sun, a unique lighting situation was cast onto the marshland blow. The water in the marsh still reflected a bright blue sky, with the storm clouds just edging in onto an otherwise clear palate. The green vegetation, however, has taken on a darker hue from the shadows of the stormclouds. The clouds above have a dark underbelly, but reflect the pink hue of the sunlight at the top. The contradictory lighting in nature is fascinating to me as an artist, as it is interesting to see the highlights in both the light and the shadows at the same time.
