Perspective: My Perspective painting angles our view of nature toward the earth. Rather than taking in a landscape from the typical viewpoint of a person standing up, I wanted to lower our gaze to give us a more clear perspective of a fascinating landscape. Contrasting many of my paintings, I allowed the water of the marsh to take up most of the space on the canvas. The clusters of marsh grass draw your eyes to the shapes that are created by the juts and dips of its borders. The stark brown shade of the grass provides a crisp contrast to the smooth gray water settling steadily in between the mounds of marshland. From this perspective, the gray sea and sky blend together, distinguished only by the abrupt line that slices between the two as the marshland suddenly vanishes into the gray.
