So what’s up with the new website?
Some of you have been wondering what I have been up to for the past few months. I have been working on my new website and adding new features to it. I tried to keep the website simple, user friendly, and make it easy to navigate. The look of the website is clean and very simple, but the back end is complex. I have marked up my website and images to be detected as creative work and paintings. I did this so search engines like Google and Yahoo will understand that most of my pictures are paintings, and not just regular images. I have also marked up events, blog posts, and articles. This may sound simple, but many artists’ websites do not include these features, but they should!
The first new feature I would like to tell you about is the Paintings page which is located in the navigation menu. The Paintings page is divided into several categories that make it easy for you to find a specific scenery or subject. Once you click on one of the categories, like Marsh Paintings, you can filter the paintings by availability by hovering over the purple Show All button and clicking Available or Sold.
You can access a painting by hovering over the image and clicking “View Details” to get more information. Navigate to the next or previous image by clicking on the arrows on the top right of the page. If you click the cube between the two arrows, it will take you back to the category page.
One of my main features on my new website is the love and sharing buttons on each painting page. You can easily love or share the paintings on my website. Each time you love one of my paintings by clicking on the heart symbol, I will be able to see which paintings are visited the most. This will encourage me to create artwork that is similar to the paintings you love. Paintings on my website are tagged with specific key words. For example, if a painting’s subject is about a sunset on the marsh, then I can tag that painting with words such as, marsh, sunset, the color of the sky, the color of the grass, if there are boats, and other important details.
Each painting has a description that will describe the painting in more detail. Below the description, you can see the painting’s size, medium, its location, and where to purchase; along with if it is available or sold.
My blog has also been redeveloped to be simple and easy to navigate. If you want to subscribe to my newsletter, you are now able to choose what type of emails you would like to receive. The options include: blog posts, new paintings, special offers, and events.
In addition to these changes, my website is now mobile friendly and will resize to any screen in which it is viewed. I tried to keep everything simple, without too many fancy graphics, but it does have a new look. I am using the Genesis framework, which is in my opinion, the best framework to develop a website.
I would like to start to become more active and social using this new website. Please contact me with any suggestions for blogs or articles that you would like to read or any other ideas for content. Also, let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements to my website or new features you would like to see. Reach out to me if you find any problems or bugs on the website. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy my new website!
